Enable Microsoft Store for Business and publish the Company Portal app


This step by step tutorial will take you through how to enable the Microsoft Store for Business and publish the Company Portal app via Intune / Endpoint Manager.

Configuration of Microsoft Store for Business - Link

Note - you don't actually need to create an account with the Store for Business, you simply sign in to your tenant first so you are already authenticated. Then you open the link to the Store for Business in a new tab. 

Sign in to your Office 365 tenant so you're authenticated and associated - 
From there, open a new tab and go to the Microsoft Store for Business - 
https://www.microsoft.com/business-store
  

In the Business Store, choose the Manage tab, select Settings























Distribute tab



















Under Management Tools - Select Microsoft Intune and Active (Don't activate Microsoft Intune Enrollment).

Extra Notes -
If you don't specifically have Microsoft Intune available as a mobile device management tool, choose Add management tool to add Microsoft Intune. If you don't have Microsoft Intune activated as your mobile device management tool, click Activate next to Microsoft Intune.

There is no need to activate Microsoft Intune Enrollment - Link




















Configure Synchronisation - Link
Endpoint Manager - Tenant administration > Connectors and tokens



Microsoft Store for Business.
Select - Enable
Open the Business Store link
Save -



Once you have Saved - The Sync button will be enabled
Click - Sync -


The apps you've purchased from the Microsoft Store into Intune.

By default - several Microsoft Business Store apps are synched and can be assigned or made available.

Synced apps from the Microsoft Business Store show as (Online) and Microsoft Store for Business App.

Purchasing the app - Company Portal

Open the Microsoft Business Store - https://businessstore.microsoft.com/ 

From the Microsoft Store for Business - Search and select the app - Company Portal


Select - Get the app -


Accept the agreement -

It is common to get this failure notice -


Try again - It will eventually be added to your inventory -
Close


Note - it may take a long time before the apps become available in Endpoint Manager.

To prompt them publishing within Endpoint Manager - Sync the Microsoft Store for Business -
Endpoint Manager - Tenant Administration - Connectors and Tokens -


Note how the last sync was apparently in 1970 - 😝
Click Sync to perform an initial sync


Notifications will advise that the sync has started


The default Microsoft Store apps will now appear under the Apps section.
The Company Portal app will also appear as we added it to our Inventory


Note that these apps will still need to be assigned later

To remove the default apps -
Open the Microsoft Store for Business -
Select - Manager - Order History


Select the Order for the App you want to be removed from the Inventory -


On the order details - Under actions - Select the three dots -


Select - Refund -


Select Refund


Repeat the process for each of the apps you want removed from the Inventory


Perform a sync again -
Endpoint Manager - Tenant Admin - Connectors and Tokens - Microsoft Store for Business - Sync

The apps you selected to be removed from the Inventory will no longer show in EndPoint Manager
Only the Company Portal shows now


Don't forget to assign users to the Company Portal app once you have decided which ones to target.
